I Don't Wanna Fight...
I picked up the new Interpol and Smashing Pumpkins records yesterday after work. I'm going to save my final judgements until I've had a chance to listen to both albums a couple times through. I'll definitely get an opportunity going to and from Frankfort on Friday for my dental appointment. But my initial thoughts are this: 1. Both are not improvements on past efforts; 2. I have some mixing issues with both albums (Interpol: Turn up the rhythm section! SP: Turn down the vocals!); 3. Well, the packaging is nice. This all being said, there hasn't been anything to detest so far, so that's a good thing. As it stands, both are firmly in B minus range upon first listen. It's worth noting that these are some big records to come out in one day, especially if you count the new Spoon album, which I'll leave to Allison to pick up since she's a fan.
On a side note: Damn you J.J. Abrams and your mind games! This nameless movie and its viral campaign have already stolen thirty minutes of my work time!
For some reason Blogger is acting all assy and not letting me insert a line between paragraphs. Erg!

I fixed the line break thing for you, babe. The < br > tag is your friend.
I, too, noticed the loud vox on the new Pumpkins (or rather Billy) record just listening to the iTunes clips. Regardless of the music, I can't listen to it as the mix is so horrible. I think musically there was only one or two songs that appeared interesting.
